  Who is your favorite thinker pt 2.

  once upon a time i started a thread who is your favorite thinker and got many responses.

  however revisiting that thread i noted we were to modest to name ourselves or fellow posters.

  i therefore think we are either complete idiots, or modesty aside we should now name names, and restrict our answers to posters on the board.. so who on this board is your favorite thinker and why?.

  I agree with the above choices.

  It amazes me whence come the thoughts and expressive mode of expression of our forum thinkers. They wax on and on, so eloquently, with clever, insightful turns of phrase.

  Personally, I feel and do not think too much. It's neither a conscious nor deliberate choice to be a non-thinker, a brainless wonder; I simply lack the cerebral mechanism to add one plus one and get two. Truly, I want to understand and apply what useful information my esteemed fellow posters do offer. I'm awed and odd, I guess.

  Hats off to our thinkers!

  How do you deal with depression?

  i'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.

  ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.

  my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

  Dear BlackWolf:

  I hope you will hang in there. Many here have responded with love and encouragement.

  My spouse and I were fanatical and unreasonable with our teenager. When it came to our child doing self-harm, we snapped out of our cult mode and said, "You don't have to be a Witness, just obey the house rules. You don't have to go to the KH anymore." The rebellion stopped and peace and love came into our home.

  Well, that action on our part didn't please the powers that be. But we saved our child and have a wonderful relationship still, 30 years later.

  Hope this helps, though it's from a different vantage point.

  Refusal to associate with certain people works both ways, within or without religious affiliation.

  Brother Knorr told us Bethelites that we should avoid bad association even at Bethel . . . Seems as though something went amiss during the original screening process.

  Sad poetry, for the time being, is perfectly all right. Been there myself. I'm somewhat more detached from the pain of the past. You'll find a way to deal with it, as many of us have. Of course, in this, the present, we still must confront the reality of WT policies and their hold on our loved ones.

  beards have been talked about a lot, especially with the recent wt article, but what about other types of non-mustache facial hair, like goatees chinbeards and soul patches?.

  in my own experience i've seen a white young man with big handlebars and a soul patch run mikes, do literature and give talks not too long ago.

  i saw a black older man with a sizeable soul patch as the focus of one shot in a jw.org video about an annual meeting a few years ago.

  Yes, Orphancrow -- someone's perpetual study! I like that.

  When I wrote of its depending on the local elders, I cannot say why one elder would seek me out before meeting and tell me to raise my hand high so that he would see it and, then, call on me.

  I guess it all depends on the local elders.

  As I wrote before, I have been allowed to comment at meetings although I have a full beard and haven't cut my hair in five years. The latest Memorial was my final meeting.

  It must be disconcerting to some ardent JWs to have a Christendom-styled Jesus (so I've been called) in their midst. Of course, I gave no talks from the platform nor did I go out in service.
